We're excited to introduce our keynote speaker, Mason Branstrator. Mason is a content creator, public speaker, and disability educator from Duluth, Minnesota. As a teenager, he spent years searching for direction and wondering how he could help people in a real way. At age 17, he sustained a spinal cord injury that forced him to rebuild his life from the ground up. Through rehab and the transition back to school, he found new ways to adapt to life and began sharing these skills and lessons on social media. What started as simple videos during a gap year grew into a platform focused on adaptive living, resilience, and rethinking what is possible. We're excited to meet Mason and hear his story! #MakeADifference @mason_branstrator

The annual St. Louis County - Youth in Action - Make a Difference conference is a month away, and we still have exhibitor space available! This year, we are anticipating around 300 youth from throughout the county to be in attendance for this full-day event! This is an excellent opportunity to connect with youth and be a part of this fun and impactful experience! For the last several weeks, Ely YIA has been working closely with St. Louis County Mental Health Educators to create their student-led workshop for the 2026 Make a Difference Conference! Thank you to Casey and Kyra for coming to Ely to help us with this important work!

What is YIA?

Youth in Action (or YIA) is a St. Louis County program that promotes students getting involved in school and community projects that make a positive impact.

Youth in Action opportunities are available on the Iron Range for students in grades 7-12 and in the Duluth area schools for students in grades 9-12. It is free to join and everybody is welcome!

Our MISSION is to maintain and support youth development and community programs and projects. We work to promote public service values to better engage young adults with their communities. Our goal is to bring positive change to St. Louis County through partnerships with students, schools, community organizations and businesses and our in-school advisors.
